Ready.... Launch!

So here is the deal. I have been toying with the idea of starting a blog for the past few weeks. I have thought of lot of different ideas This leads me to want to write about a wide variety of topics that I am interested in. So this will develop as it goes.

As a fitness professional and coach my time is split but my goals are the same I want to help people better themselves and achieve their goals. Having the split time between my two jobs makes it tough to give all of my focus to the task. The main way that I am able to keep things straight between my two jobs at three facilities and finishing up a Master's degree is organization. Planning out what I will be doing with my time each week is key to my success professionally and academically. There are times that my computer is filled with post it notes to make sure I don't forget a task, I make sure to recycle them as I get them done.

Staying organized is key too for your fitness success. Even if you have a schedule that is different each day and week it isn't an excuse to miss workouts. Just as I make workouts for each of my personal training clients and swimmers I make sure to make workouts for myself. In addition always make sure to allow a little bit of wiggle room for the plan because something will come up that will change the plan. Adapting so the goal is still achievable is key. For instance I work out of a gym that has limited space and lots of members. My clients time is limited and there are times, especially during busy hours, that some equipment is being used for extended periods, not allowing them to be able to perform the exercises. Unless it is a main exercise of focus in the program, i.e. deadlifts, squats or other very specific goal, I make sure to provide an alternative exercise that will work the same muscles and provide an adequate substitute. While this situation is not ideal the adaptation to the situation determines if the situation will be a problem not the situation itself.

So i have entered the blogoverse and I will be the first to admit that I don't know everything. I am always looking to gain experience and learn from successes and failures.
